Thornton-Le-Dale is the ideal location for your holiday in the North Yorkshire Moors. The village itself is one of the pretiest villages in Yorkshire and attracts many well known artists because of its unspoilt character and tranquility.

The famous Dalby Forest Drive is nearby and within the village of Thornton-Le-Dale there are many short country walks. There is also a Motor Museum in Pickering Road.

Thornton-Le-Dale has three public houses (pubs), two cafes and a fish and chip shop with a restaurant.

A wide variety of interesting places and attractions await the visitor within only a thirty miles radius of Thornton-Le-Dale.

Pickering has a Monday market and other attractions include the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway - Beck Isle Museum - Pickering Castle - Ryedale Swimming Pool - Moorland Trout Farm and the Kirk Theatre. Between Pickering and Malton at Kirby Misperton is the Flamingo Land Zoo and Leisure Park.

Malton has a Saturday market and a museum. Just outside Malton are historic Castle Howard which featured in the television epic Brideshead Revisited - Eden Camp Modern History Museum - Derwent Swimming Pool and Richardsons Bowling Centre.

Helmsley has a Friday Market - Duncombe Park and Helmsley Castle. Around Helmsley are Rievaulx Abbey - Byland Abbey - Kilburn with the Mouseman's Visitors Centre and Sutton Bank with the White Horse and Yorkshire Gliding Club.

Kirkbymoorside has a Wednesday Market and nearby are Nunnington Hall - the Ryedale Folk Museum at Hutton le Hole - the Cropton Brewery at the New Inn Cropton and in the spring the beautiful valley of the daffodils at Farndale.

Historic York is noted for the Minster, the old streets including the famous Shambles. A variety of museums including the National Railway Museum and boating trips on the River Ouse.

The coastal resorts of Scarborough with the Sea Life Centre, Filey, Bridlington and Whitby provide a host of traditional and modern seaside attractions.

The old fishing port of Whitby is connected with Captain Cook and the fishing villages of Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes are recemmended.

High on the moors between Thornton-Le-Dale and Whitby is the moorland village of Goathland. Recently made famous as Aidensfield in the popular television series "Heartbeat".

Tourist information centres in Ryedale with their helpful staff are at Pickering - Malton, Helmsley and Sutton Bank.
